Rest in Paradise: Norman Whitfield

Today, September 16, 2008, Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter Norman Jesse Whitfield passed away in Los Angeles, California. Whitfield co-wrote and produced several Motown hits, including ‘You’re My Everything,’ by The Temptations.

Yesterday, September 15/67, the song peaked at no. 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

You’re My Everything’ was released as a single in support of the band’s fifth album, “With a Lot o’ Soul.” Norman Whitfield also produced ‘Ain’t Too Proud to Beg’ by the Temptations in 1966.

And on October 12, 1999, ‘You’re My Everything’ was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. Stream it on Spotify now.
