🔊🥳 Today, May 13, 1943, Mary Esther Wells was born in Detroit, Michigan. Wells has a signature song called ‘My Guy,’ and it peaked at no. 1 on the US Hot 100 on May 15, 1964. The song was produced by Smokey Robinson, and used by Whoopi & The Ronelles as part of ‘The Lounge Medley’ in 1992’s Sister Act. ‘My Guy’ is included on Mary Wells’ fourth studio album “Mary Wells Sings My Guy.” The album reached no. 111 on the Billboard 200.
