Music Birthday: Billie Holiday

🔊🥳Today, April 7, 1915, Billie Holiday was born Eleanora Fagan in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At just 20 years young, in July 1935, Holiday recorded a cover of Harry Woods’ ‘What a Little Moonlight Can Do’ with Teddy Wilson. Nearly 30 years after passing away of alcoholism in July 1959, Holiday posthumously won a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy/Grammy Awards—her only win.
