HomageCollage: Lalah Hathaway, ‘That Was Then’

🔊💜Today, February 7, 2009, ‘That Was Then’ by Lalah Hathaway peaked at no. 32 on the US Billboard Adult R&B Songs Chart. The song comes from Hathaway’s “Self Portrait” LP release in June 2008. Rex Rideout produced ‘That Was Then,’ much like Ledisi’s ‘Alright.’ “Self-Portait” peaked at no. 63 on the Billboard 200, and no. 6 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. At the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, becoming Hathaway’s first win, ‘That Was Then’ won for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
